Stena Line Continues to Invest in its Fleet

For the first time ever this week, Rosslare Europort had three vessels from the one ferry company at the same time and it definitely provided an impressive sight.

Ian Davies, Route Manager, Irish Sea South, Stena Line, said: “The Stena Europe, Stena Horizon and Stena Flavia took over three berths of Rosslare Europort this week as we prepare for the £4.4m refit of our Irish Sea fleet. The Stena Flavia arrived in port on Tuesday January 12 to provide cover for the Stena Horizon on the Rosslare to Cherbourg route which has now sailed to Harland and Wolff in Belfast for its annual refit.

Over the next two months, seven Stena Line vessels, will visit Harland & Wolff in Belfast on a carefully sequenced timetable to facilitate a range of specialist works including annual inspections, passenger facility upgrade work as well as ongoing technical enhancements.

”Our refits are very important to ensuring the smooth, safe and reliable running of our expanding fleet of ships. The decision to place the majority of our refit contract work with a UK company (Harland and Wolff, Belfast) allows us to play our part in helping to support indigineous businesses,” Ian continued

The Stena Flavia has already began sailing on the Rosslare to Cherbourg route replacing Stena Horizon, until March 6.

The Stena Horizon has been at Harland and Wolff since Jan 14 until Jan 28, after which she will cover the Dublin to Holyhead route in place of the Stena Superfast X and Stena Adventurer dockings, until approximately March 6.

When the Stena Horizon arrives in Dublin, Stena Superfast X will leave for Belfast for an inwater survey and then cover the refits of both the Stena Superfast VII and Stena Superfast VIII, returning to Holyhead on 16th Feb.

Stena Europe will be the only vessel in the fleet not visiting Harland and Wolff, instead she will be visiting A&P Falmouth from 16th February 16 to March 5.
